The municipality of Leiden removes nets at the Morspoort | parking garage NOW

The nets at the Morspoort garage will be removed at the beginning of September because of plastic particles crumbling from the nets. The municipality of Leiden reports this in a letter to local residents on Friday.

The nets hide the concrete and steel construction of the parking garage. The plastic particles that crumble off the nets end up in the environment and thus pollute the surroundings of the garage. Pieces also fall into gardens and the canal.

The nets are not replaced. According to the municipality, there is no sustainable alternative for this. In addition, the garage was built in 2012 for a period of ten years. In the future, a new residential area will be built in that part of the city.

Previously, the nets on the side near Morsweg and Bloemfonteinstraat were already removed.
