The most expensive Volkswagen Gol in history, Last Edition is already sold out

As with the Volkswagen Kombi Last Edition, Fiat Uno Ciao and other farewell special series, the Volkswagen Gol Last Edition has sold all of its units destined for Brazil. The brand had reserved 650 units for our country, and only 649 would have been sold, given that the 1,000th model is in the VW museum.

Just as many people criticized the fact that the model was equipped with a 1.0 MPI three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 84 bhp and 10.4 kgfm of torque. O costing R$ 95,990, marking the highest price a Gol has ever achieved in history, the Ultima Edizione was not made for anyone thinking of buying a car in a rational way.

The brand has created the special edition as a tribute to the life of the compact that marks its farewell to the market. It was obvious that it would be expensive and that the brand would not invest in engines and items that the car would never use just for a farewell series. But the proof that it was not designed for the rational consumer is that it quickly sold out.

Entering the Volkswagen website to acquire the Gol Last Edition, the brand redirects the consumer to the Polo page. The press release reads: “The special and exclusive edition of Gol was a success and is already sold out. Take the opportunity to learn all about the new Polo, the car that will continue Gol’s legacy”.

The marque had prioritized selling online but planned to send one car to each of its dealerships. Given the pace at which the Gol Last Edition has been selling, seeing one at retailers will be rare. With the veteran’s death, the cheapest VW car in Brazil is now the Polo Track at R$79,990.
