As a beauty consultant explains, in everyday hair care we often unknowingly make mistakes that damage our hair. For example, very often people do not use a hair dryer to dry their hair, but dry it naturally, believing that the hair dryer will hurt the hair. This solution may be suitable for short and quick-drying hair, but longer and thicker hair is actually better dried with a hair dryer, using a warm air or medium mode (rather than hot) and not keeping the hair dryer too close to the hair. If the hair is wet or damp for a long time, it becomes more vulnerable and brittle, because the hair fibers swell and become more vulnerable to external factors. The longer the hair stays moist, the more likely it is to be injured. Swollen hair presses on the proteins in the hair, damaging the reticulated connections. Therefore, it is also not recommended to go to bed with wet hair, as it makes the hair fragile and brittle. Gentle drying with a hair dryer will help to avoid this negative effect. It is especially recommended for straight hair owners. However, you can dry your hair naturally if your hair is flexible and you want to keep your natural curls. Then apply to clean hair cream for flexible hair and allow hair to dry.

Another very common mistake is combing wet hair. If you do, then only very gently, starting with the ends of the hair. Also, do not keep hair masks and conditioners for longer or shorter than indicated on the package. Always follow the instructions for use of the product for the best effect.

Sensitive scalp

The biggest mistake in caring for sensitive scalps is the use of aggressive head scrubs. When going to the hairdresser, warn about the sensitivity of the scalp in good time to avoid aggressive hair dyes and too intense products that can irritate the scalp.

For sensitive scalp, choose products that contain soothing substances or plant extracts with a soothing effect. Sensitive scalp responds to aggressive products with itching, redness, pulling sensation and discomfort, so choose a shampoo for sensitive scalp. In turn, the conditioner should be chosen according to the length and condition of the hair, such as dry, colored or other types of hair. In addition, use soothing tonics or serums for the scalp.

For dry hair

Dry hair can be naturally dry (for example, often for owners of flexible hair) and mechanically damaged (by straightening with a hair pan, forming with curls and otherwise acting on the hair structure). Such hair is characterized by fluff and frizz, they do not shine, are difficult to comb and easy to break. For the care of such hair, it is recommended to use hair masks every third wash and do not forget about serums. They should be applied to clean, towel-dried hair. The serums will help protect your hair from moisture loss, adverse environmental effects and mechanical effects.

In case of dry hair, you should definitely not use homemade masks (such as mayonnaise, eggs with cognac, honey and other homemade masks). Do not smear olive oil on your hair! Use special products that will help fill damaged areas. Note that if the hair is very dry and damaged, it cannot be styled and will look unaesthetically pleasing. It is better to cut off the damaged and dry ends of the hair and apply appropriate care to make the hair grow healthier. Remember to always use three hair care products: two rinse aids, one non-rinse aid. This will smooth the hair cuticle and help retain moisture in the hair until the next wash.

For colored hair

The most common care mistakes in the case of colored hair are not to use products for colored hair. As a result, hair color will fade quickly. Also, if you use only shampoo, your hair will not receive full care. On the other hand, without wearing a headgear on the beach and on sunny summer days, the hair will become dry and quickly lose color pigments.

For colored hair, use shampoos and other hair care products specially designed for colored hair. Their main goal is to keep the color brightness as long as possible, not to let it fade, as well as moisturize the hair.

For oily hair

Proper care of oily hair must first find the cause of excessive oiliness of the scalp. This can be a hormonal imbalance or improper hair and scalp care. For this type of hair, it is recommended to use balancing shampoos to regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands and care for the hair. Remember – do not over-degrease and dry the scalp. This will only exacerbate the problem. The recommended solution is to try to balance the function of the sebaceous glands by using appropriate, balancing products.

Hair loss

Even in the case of severe hair loss, it is very important to find out the cause of hair loss – whether it is seasonal hair loss or something else. Every day we lose about 100-150 hairs. Eat valuable Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids in your diet. Remember – a fat-free diet makes hair fragile, brittle and dull, but skin – dry and dull. Eat foods rich in amino acids. On the other hand, if you take vitamins for hair, they should be used for at least three months to achieve the result.
