The Ministry of Health is starting to push the idea of ​​taking over regional hospitals to the government

Already in 2019, when introducing the division of hospitals into levels, the ministry had a plan to evaluate the possibilities of state participation or takeover of strategically important regional hospitals, but the further implementation of this plan was interrupted by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the assessment of the Ministry of Interior, such a model would significantly improve the cooperation of hospitals at both the national and regional levels. In addition, it would be easier for regional hospitals, as leading medical institutions, to represent the interests of the state and move towards achieving common goals in health care within the framework of the hospital cooperation network.

In order for the cooperation network of hospitals to be successful in the future and for as many hospitals as possible to participate in it, in the opinion of the Ministry of Health, it is necessary to determine the areas of responsibility and the principles of cooperation initially in cooperation with clinical university hospitals and regional hospitals.

The Ministry of the Interior states that the state’s participation in regional hospitals has several benefits. Among them are uniform quality and safety of health care by developing and evaluating uniform quality criteria, closer cooperation between clinical university hospitals and regional hospitals aimed at better service provision and human resource planning, as well as more coordinated hospitalization of patients, including the development and provision of optimal patient hospitalization plan depending on the diagnosis and criticality, ensuring the treatment of inpatients at the required level of care.
