Football or rugby matches, in open air stadiums, should not be able to benefit from more than 5,000 supporters for the next three weeks, contrary to what we have hoped in recent days.

Not certain, on the contrary, that the stadiums can benefit from a proportional gauge according to their capacity, for the next three weeks. This is what the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced in person to the JDD: “I understand the intention: why impose the same limitation to 5,000 people outdoors at stadiums with 50,000 seats and at smaller stadiums? “But I would remind you that only very large places are affected by this limitation system. If we entered into a logic of gauge, we should include, for consistency, all establishments welcoming the public, even small ones, which are not concerned. And good luck counting the square meters! We would quickly enter a gas factory. “

It is therefore in the name of consistency, universality and a form of solidarity that the government should oppose the bill that will be debated Monday in the Assembly, in order to move to a proportional system. and not to a strict limitation to 2,000 or 5,000 people maximum (depending on whether it is a room or an outdoor stadium) as was decided at the beginning of the week. “We have made the choice of simplicity and a decision applicable without delay, for the shortest possible time, further specifies the Minister. As soon as the sanitary conditions are suitable, we will however be able to return to proportional gauges such as we had already done it in the spring, after the third wave. ” This therefore confirms the idea that these new restrictions will go beyond the single month of January …-–
