the mayor prohibits gatherings of more than two people at night until October 31

The opposition denounces a measure “liberticidal,” invokes his competence “to maintain the maintenance of good order in public places.” The mayor of Lorette, Gérard Tardy, issued an order to prohibit gatherings of more than two people in part of the city center from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. The order is in effect until October 31.

The mayor intends to target several behaviors in his decree. He evokes “miscellaneous garbage throwing, dirt, excessive noise, inappropriate or offensive remarks, “improvised meals,” car rodeos, spitting […]

Since July 12, it is therefore forbidden to meet with more than two people in Lorette, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. This concerns Place du IIIe Millénaire, Place Hippolyte Bonnasiès, Parc Simone Signoret, Rue Jean-Claude Delay Jean Moulin, Voie Jean Mugnéry, part of Rue Jean Jaurès, and the surroundings of the media library and the Monument aux Dead.

A first decree, taken on June 24, provided for the same measure, but spread out from noon to four in the morning. It was not until July 12 that Mayor Gérard Tardy amended his decree. In question, residents of a nursing home in the city center would have complained about the uproar committed by several young people from the city under a gazebo. For opposition municipal councilor Julien Lequeux, it is necessary “open the dialogue with this group, and see how we can do to avoid these nuisances for the residents since that is inadmissible.”

Contacted by France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire, Gérard Tardy has not responded to our requests for the moment.
