A redesign of the 16 titles is not possible in nine days

To think that the update of free textbooks can be achieved in a period of nine days, considering that there are 16 titles, from third to sixth grades of primary education, is not to really think that this is possible. And even worse if the absence of the new basic education curriculum is still considered. How is it possible to update books if there is no curriculum? How is it that the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) has come to think that in nine days the proposals for 234 materials will be received and in three days the educational authorities will have approved them? It is not possible, no.

If the SEP believed that, after giving training courses to update 16 different books, it was possible to achieve the redesign of the books in nine days, it is to believe that goblins exist and that they would help collaborators to update this package bibliographic aimed at all students from third to sixth grades of primary education. In other words, to think that creating new educational textbooks in an impossible time was feasible is lacking in vision.

Some specialists in educational textbooks have considered that the new materials should be very well thought out, with sufficient depth in their contents and their treatment and in accordance with the experiences obtained over the last few years regarding the books that want to be redesigned. . Although Mexico has managed to accumulate certain experiences in the application of the exercises that are always included, these should have been considered in the updating process. However, apparently, that did not matter, since in nine days these materials should have been finished, in 16 titles.

It should not be forgotten that, unlike other countries, SEP’s free textbooks have stood out since the 1960s, not only for being well done and for being the main teaching resources for class sessions, but also for having the enormous advantage of being materials of the personal property of each student, which are often the only books at home and are for family consultation. In them, we must not forget, highly prestigious specialists in each of the learning areas have participated, which is not always seen in the books of private publishers.

And if these materials have come to be considered national and social heritage, their quality had to be guaranteed by experienced specialists in the preparation of this type of books, and not by people summoned by the SEP who only had the intention of collaborating, but without ensuring that they could provide sufficient knowledge and experience to do so. It was not a question of summoning the interested public but of hiring the best specialists and technicians who would guarantee the quality required by the Free Textbooks.

In reality, nobody understands the rush of the SEP to have educational books supposedly updated in such a short time, rather without time, and through improvised collaborators, without being integrated into interdisciplinary teams and without any supervision from anyone. I remember that, during my collaboration in the design of the SEP textbook corresponding to My Spanish Book, Third Grade, the team in which I was integrated took a year to finish the material ordered. It is not possible to make a book, of the 16 titles, in nine days. This could not be. So it is possible to imagine the resulting material, without the quality of before.
