After the fans’ lackluster reaction to The Last Jedi and the massive box office failure Solomany thought the world was over Star Wars. However, the launch of Disney + brought with it the first live TV series in the universe, The Mandalorian. The popularity of the show has proven that Star Wars is still a huge franchise.

The Mandalorian takes place several years later Return of the Jedi and follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter and his adventures. Each character featured in the show is a new addition to Star Wars. We review them and rank the top ten.

ten Xi’an

We will precede this entry by stating that we do not like Xi’an. Mercenary Twi’lek was sometimes a bit of a stretch when he appeared in “Chapter 6: The Prisoner” only. That being said, there is still a lot to love about her. On the one hand, Xi’an is played by the talented Natalia Tena.

Tena’s performance made her the first actor to appear in Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and Harry potter. It’s impressive. Xi’an also has an interesting story that we would like to know more about. There is a clear, perhaps romantic, past with the Mandalorian himself that should be deepened in season two.

nine Mayfeld

Appearing in the same episode as Xi’an, Mayfeld was part of the team with which the Mandalorian worked. Played by the always entertaining Bill Burr, Mayfeld was without doubt the highlight of the chapter. He was an antagonist but that doesn’t mean he’s not a fun character.

Mayfeld was competent as the group’s leader, but what he brought to the show was a little humor. When he was praised as a sniper for the Empire, Mando laughed and Mayfeld hilariously declared that he “was not a stormtrooper”. We also loved his Gungan joke. More Bill Burr, please.

8 The gunsmith

One of the biggest lingering questions in the series revolves around the tradition of the Mandalorians. We don’t know a ton about them even after the season is over. We know about the armor they wear, that they lived mostly in the shadows, and they said, “So it is,” a lot.

The gunsmith helped shed light on these things. This Mandalorian woman works to forge Beskar steel armor and weapons. She also won over fans with the way she applied their traditions. Add his awesome fight scene to the finale and you have a winner. She is played by Emily Swallow.

seven Kuiil

Kuiil was one of the first characters we met The Mandalorian. He helped Mando finish his work in the episode of the first, then helped him get back to his ship in the next episode. Kuiil is an Ugnaught who leads a quiet life as a steam producer before meeting Mando.

Expressed by Nick Nolte, Kuiil has become a fan favorite. Her line “I spoke” is already a success and we had more of her rich backstory revealed in “Chapter 7: The Reckoning”. Unfortunately, Kuiil was killed while trying to protect the child at the end of the episode.

6 Greef Karga

Before even meeting Kuiil, the audience was introduced to Greef Karga. Played by the always impressive Carl Weathers, Greef is the leader of a bounty hunter guild. It is he who hires Mando to monitor the precious assets of a special client. He often goes from ally to enemy.

After helping Mando get started, Greef becomes his enemy at the end of “Chapter 3: Sin”. He apparently sets off in search of Mando and the Child but ends up siding with them. Greef is an interesting character who is neither entirely good nor bad, and he was always fascinating to watch.

5 Cara dune

Full name Carasynthia Dune, she is a badass woman. In fact, she manages to stand out in a world that already includes prominent ladies like Rey and Princess Leia. Cara is seen for the first time in “Chapter 4: Sanctuary” where she goes end to end with Mando in combat.

As a former rebel shock soldier, she has the skills to face anything that gets in her way. Former MMA competitor Gina Carano brings a legitimate physical presence to the role. Cara shows her loyalty to Mando and their partnership was a highlight of the series.

4 IG-11

Star Wars has no shortage of memorable droids throughout its history. R2-D2 and C3-Po are the classics but recent films have given us tastes of BB-8 and K-2SO. Even the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order the game presents the superb BD-1. The Mandalorian continues this trend with IG-11.

This droid is awesome as soon as we meet him, because he will fight alongside Mando at the end of the premiere. IG-11 does not return until the penultimate episode after being reprogrammed. IG-11 takes care of the child and all those around him. The sacrifice that IG-11 makes in the finale is emotional. Of course, being voiced by Taika Waititi adds a lot because he’s great.

3 Moff gideon

Every great story needs a fantastic villain. For most The Mandalorian, we didn’t have one. There were smaller villains but not a bad one that we could see. This changed in “Chapter 7: The Reckoning” when we were introduced to Moff Gideon.

For starters, it is played by Giancarlo Esposito, who once played one of the best villains in television history on breaking Bad. Gideon immediately feels like a major threat that could cause problems for our heroes. In addition, there is a lot of intrigue around what he knows about everyone and his black saber.

2 The Mandalorian

You can’t have a list like this and not include the titular hero. Often called Mando, we learned that his real name was Din Djarin in “Chapter 8: Redemption”. Din is the hero we have been looking for from the start and there are many reasons to have a connection with him.

We are given a story of origin which allows us to sympathize with him. There are a lot of scenes where we can see how hard-nosed a warrior he is. You also can’t help but love seeing someone in their impressive armor do their thing. The best feature of Din is the way he assumed the fatherhood role in which he found himself.

1 The child

There really couldn’t be any other choice. The Child, or Baby Yoda for most fans, is the 50-year-old creature that Din / Mando discovers at the end of the first episode. It was the bonus he was supposed to collect. During the first few episodes, the two form a bond.

The child has always amazed us. There is the obvious adorable factor that makes us love. However, the Child also uses Force in interesting ways, from saving Din to suffocating Cara. The child has conquered the world and that does not seem to change anytime soon.
