The assault took place in Pilsen on Slovany on 5 August. “The perpetrator first came to the store to sell a takeaway watch, which apparently didn’t work out according to his plan. So a few minutes later he decided to go to the store again, but he was already masked by a plastic bag over his head with a covered face and equipped with a pickaxe, which literally subsequently smashed the business, “described police spokeswoman Veronika Hokrová.
There were several people in the store at that time, all of whom fled for fear of their lives. The masked man threw away the pickaxe and took with him eight salaries with the jewelry on display. He then hid his valuables in a backpack he had hidden in a neighboring house, and fled through the back entrance of the complex towards U Ježíška Street.
Within a short time, police officers arrived at the scene and began an immediate search for the perpetrator. They saw a fleeing man fleeing into a wooded area toward the river. The perpetrator no longer had a chance to escape, he was caught with a magnifying glass. He caused damage for 600 thousand crowns. According to the police, he is a 36-year-old man from the Pilsen region with a criminal history.
“The police then took the man for a medical examination, followed by a collection of biological material, during which a detainee with yellow metal fell out of the detainee’s mouth. Due to the situation, a special examination was performed by medical staff, which found no other signs of a foreign body in the body.” added Hokrová.
A day later, Pilsen criminal investigators accused the 36-year-old man of committing the crime of theft in a single act with the offense of damaging another’s property, and the accused went into custody.
