The Local Police distribute masks to the taxi drivers of Alcalá de Henares
From early this morning, agents of the Local Police of Alcalá de Henares have distributed to the professionals of the public taxi service a batch of 3,000 masks.
From this Monday, May 4, the use of masks in general public transport is mandatory and the taxi is still one of the most important.
This is published by the Official State Gazette “In public passenger transport in vehicles with up to nine seats, two people may move for each additional row of seats with respect to the driver, guaranteeing the maximum possible distance.”
A fundamental task
Alcalá taxis are covering more than 100 home health visits a week.
They are totally free transfers for health personnel from the Health Centers and their intention is to continue doing so.
It must be remembered that taxi professionals offered to provide services to health workers for free from the first day of the State of Alarm.
Two days later, on March 16, the Community of Madrid reached an agreement to pay the costs of fuel, cleaning and disinfection of their vehicles.
However, Alcalá Radio Taxi, has returned the proportional part of the € 132,000, like colleagues from other municipalities, which the Community of Madrid granted them to cover expenses.
The taxi drivers asked that this economic item be derived to purchase respirators, masks, PPE or any other need that public health may have at that time.
This agreement, which remains in force until at least next May 11, guarantees service to health centers throughout the region, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., so that their toilets could even make visits domiciliary.
