The event symbolizes the now three-month-long, heroic struggle of Ukrainians against the brutal Russian invasion of their country. In addition, May 29 is Kiev Day. Kiev Day is celebrated every year on the last Sunday in May and began in 1982 to mark the city’s 1,500th anniversary.
Among the participants of the Save Ukraine telemarathon are famous Ukrainian artists: Okean Elzy, Tina Karol, The Hardkiss, Monatik, Beissoul & Einus, Antytila, Onuka, Alyona Alyona and many others.
This year’s winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, Kalush Orchestra, will also perform at the concert, surprising the whole world with the song “Stefania”. We have already reported that the group is currently auctioning both their trophies in support of their country, both the famous pink hut.
Among the leaders speaking to the audience at the telemarathon are Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena Zelenska, German government officials, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nhammer, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rite, athletes and political activists Vitaly and Vladimir Madonna, Cher, Bono, as well as Ukrainian music superstars Yamal, Ruslan and many others.
