“The little ones are physically stronger than in France”

Former Chelsea striker Jeremie Boga said the young players, being “physically stronger” than the French, made it difficult for him to get into the club.

Boga joined the Blues as a young player in 2014, progressing to Under-23 after a year on loan at Stade Rennais.

He would only make one appearance for the senior Chelsea squad in his four years there, rather than playing for their various youth teams and spending time on loan at Granada and Birmingham, as well as in Rennes.

He left in 2018 after failing to make the breakthrough, joining Sassuolo in Italy on a £ 2.7million contract and ending his stay in London.

He has since thrived in Serie A, with 16 goals and seven assists in 76 games in all competitions and plenty of rumors of a move to a bigger club like Napoli.

His development begs the question of why this never happened at Chelsea and Boga says it was due to the physique of those he played with.

“When you leave Marseille and your friends for a different environment, without a neighbor, it’s difficult every day”, he said Winamax.

“At Chelsea it was a different style of play. There, the little ones are physically stronger than in France.

“The first two years were particularly difficult physically because technically I was above average. “
