It’s a big first in Europe. According to our information, the League for Human Rights (LDH) filed a complaint this Friday before the National Commission for Data Protection (CNIL) against Uber for breach of the General Data Protection Regulations ( GDPR). It follows repeated requests from drivers in recent months to be able to access usage data from their accounts. “A series of obstacles appeared in the exercise of their rights since having been made directly to the data protection officer of Uber companies, this request was the subject of a response written in English”, is it notably written in the complaint that we were able to consult. After their requests, most of them did not receive a response from the platform, or when they received them, the data transmitted was “Unintelligible”, said Jérôme Giusti, the lawyer for the case.
