Together with a group of deputies, Alberto Asseff has submitted a project for put a limit on abortion law. The project presented by Asseff and company indicates that Prior to performing an abortion, an ultrasound should be performed to search for a fetal heartbeat. In case of detecting heartbeats, the project indicates that the doctor cannot perform the abortion.
“Doctors, health personnel and/or health systems may not intentionally perform or induce an abortion or termination of pregnancy, if a heartbeat of the fetus(es) or unborn child(ren) is detectedunderstood as cardiac activity or constant and repetitive rhythmic contraction of the fetal heart, within the gestational sac”more specifically indicates the project.
One of the variables contemplated by the project that would allow the interruption of pregnancy in any case is if the mother’s life is at risk.
Among the reasons, the deputies explain that “With the advancement of technology applied to medical sciences, it is now known that fetuses or unborn children have their own DNA from the moment fertilization occurs, and that they already have their own fingerprints from the 8 weeks of gestation It has also been proven that the development of the fetal brain begins at 18 days, and brain activity has been detected from 7 weeks of gestation, concluding that a few weeks later it is capable of feeling pain, which has raised the concern of the scientific community that has been reflected in a request to administer anesthesia prior to an abortion to mitigate fetal suffering, and that has become law in the State of Utah since 2016 “.
