Genre: Adventure Developer: Hello Games Platform: PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC Release: 2020

After the ambitious space project No Man’s Sky, it’s Hello Games, with The Last Campfire of a number of small. Or rather: a number of numbers smaller. Because the new game of the British Studios, developed by a side team and want to tell us, above all, a heartfelt story, which takes place in a compact world. And this reminds a bit of Journey, and a bit of Zelda.

What’s The Last Campfire so special?

Here’s why: The main figurine “Ember” (or “embers”) wakes up in a mysterious place in a dark Fantasy world. Understandable that it would like to immediately find a way home. Not quite so simple, however.

To be able to the place to leave, we need to ignite the eponymous last camp fire. To this end, we maneuver our lost gluten-piece through several picturesque and at the same time gloomy Dungeons full of dangers and mysteries. A first impression of the Gameplay Trailer gives you:

This is the principle of the game: In the Dungeons we have to solve in the first place Puzzles. Among other things, slider puzzles, which remind us of the games of The Legend of Zelda series. In the above-embedded Gameplay Trailer, we see, for example, as Ember opens doors by stepping on floor panels. A combat system does not seem to exist here, however.

For whom The Last Campfire is interesting?

In terms of appearance, The Last Campfire is reminiscent at first sight of Journey, even our main character looks, thanks to the Robe and the glowing eyes a little as the playable figurines in the critically acclaimed Adventure game from That Game Company.

The Last Campfire wants to send us also Journey on an emotional journey, in the core it’s about hope and the meaning of life. The game waived, however, on a Multiplayer, and offers a pure single-player experience, which should feel very intimate, very personal.

You are looking for more Games in the style of Zelda?

The Last Campfire is not only for Fans of soulful and artistic games, but also Zelda-advocate. If you Adventure there is no “Link in the temple”-Flashbacks, then the quirky, lovable-designed characters remind you, perhaps, to the inhabitants of Hyrule.

The creatures in The Last Campfire are so imaginatively designed that you could be straight out of a fairy tale.

The Last Campfire seems like the perfect game for in Between, this promises to nerve-wracking blockbusters like The Last of Us Part 2, with its humdrum gameplay and the cute Look is the perfect contrast. The puzzle-heavy Gameplay given the impression that it could make the game claim to miss. But perhaps I am wrong. Maybe game of claim at the end is not that important, but rather the emotional story, The Last Campfire to tell and could make me finally overlook the fact.
