The kyiv Ballet arrives in Seville on December 7 to support families in Ukraine through Unicef

SEVILLE, 2 (PRESS EUROPE)

The kyiv Ballet is, for the first time, touring Spain performing a show of various titles including “Swan Lake” or “The Nutcracker” with Ana Sophia Scheller as artistic director. It will be Wednesday December 7, at 17:00, when the performance will arrive at the Cartuja Center in Seville with the interpretation of this last work.

The ticket sales will support the work Unicef is doing to rescue and protect war-affected children and families both in Ukraine and in the countries where they have taken refuge, according to a press release from the NGO.

More than 1,100 children are estimated to have been killed or injured since the war began, although the true number is feared to be much higher. The Ukrainian people have already endured nine months of war and “are about to endure the further hardships of winter as sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfalls are expected both within the country and in neighboring territories”.

In this sense, UNICEF is ready to provide shelter and supplies against the cold to the families most affected, while the civilian infrastructure on which they depend – such as hospitals, schools and water networks – continue to suffer attacks.

Unicef warns war has caused major child protection crisis. “Children fleeing conflict are at significant risk of family separation, violence, abuse, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Most of them have been exposed to deeply traumatic events.”

Since 2017, the Kyiv Ballet has performed more than 500 performances in the world’s leading theaters, on tours that have taken them to Switzerland, Germany, France, Poland, Croatia, China, Ukraine and Mexico, among other countries.

Ana Sophia Scheller, artistic director of the Kyiv Ballet, is one of the most recognized dancers on the world stage and joined the Kyiv Opera Theater in 2019. Since then her stage appearances, as well as her artistic initiative, have left a deep footprint.

The Spanish tour of the kyiv Ballet includes more than one hundred performances during the autumn and winter months in Madrid, Valencia, Malaga, Almería, Granada, Alicante, Coruña, Burgos, Bilbao, Valladolid, Oviedo, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra, Santander, Pamplona, Logroño, Palencia, Ourense, Zaragoza, Murcia, Elche, León, Albacete, Soria, Cáceres, Badajoz, Jerez, Almería, Salamanca, Toledo, Ávila, Sabadell, Reus and Ciudad Real.
