“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan deeply regrets that the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Islamabad, Najibullah Alikhil, was abducted by unknown persons on her way home,” the statement said.
The department noted that the girl was “severely tortured” and then was released. She is now in the hospital. Her condition has not been reported.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry strongly condemned this “heinous act” and expressed deep concern for the safety of diplomats, their family members and employees of the country’s diplomatic missions and consulates in Pakistan.
The agency appealed to the Pakistani authorities with an appeal to find the kidnappers and bring them to justice, as well as to take measures to ensure the security of the embassy in accordance with international treaties and conventions.
