The most honest of the honest. The most sacrificial victim. The most sensitive of the sensitive. Who? We have no doubts that this is our compatriot Kuba Wojewódzki. Thanks to him, we were able to believe that there are still in this country silent heroes, modest, not elevating their good deeds to heaven, but devoted to others, selfless and bringing help. This year’s vacation in Sopot, Cuba spent in the company of friends on the beach, but no one even moved when an elderly woman called for help from the sea. What is the heroic Cuba doing? It moves across the sand like lightning and leaps into the rough waves of the Baltic Sea. His instincts tell him that the drowning man must be around when she feels her hands clenched tightly against him. He hauls her to the shore, gives artificial respiration, saves her life. Seemingly so simple, and so difficult. Because that’s what Cuba is like. All life flows against the current breaking the waves. Let us not make it difficult for him with merciless humiliation, and let us help him with a good word, because he is worthy of it like no one else. On behalf of the would-be drowned woman, Alosia Ś. and all of us Poles, we thank you Kubo for simply being there.
