The Joé Béder sensation in Saint-André

It is one of the sensations of these municipal on the island. Eternal opponent of Virapoullé -father and son- Joé Béder thwarted all the forecasts during this second round by winning against Jean-Marie Virapoullé, with 52.17% of the votes against 47.83% for the latter. The left finds the town hall of Saint-André 6 years after having lost it at the expense of Jean-Paul Virapoullé.

The pill is hard to swallow for Jean-Marie Virapoullé who however came in first during the first round with 32% of the votes, ahead of Joé Béder (24%) and Eric Fruteau (17%). The latter, returned to politics on the occasion of these municipal elections, had made the choice not to stay in the second round, giving no voting instructions in passing.

Hence the performance of Joé Béder who managed to garner votes during this in-between lap, without the support of his former mentor (of which he was the first assistant between 2008 and 2014 but with whom relations have been stormy since) , even succeeding in overthrowing the electorate in his favor despite his 15 points delay against Jean-Marie Virapoullé.
