At the Sinai refinery in Salahaddin province, a fuel tank began to burn after the intervention. The Ministry of the Oil Industry announced that no one was injured, the attack caused minor material damage.

After a few hours, the fire was extinguished and the refinery, which has a daily capacity of 30,000 barrels, resumed operations.

It is located near Bajji, where Iraq’s main oil refinery is located. During the fighting against IS, it was significantly damaged, after the defeat of the group, its provo was resumed in 2017.

The Islamic State announced on its official website without further details that its people fired two rockets at Sinai.

Reuters reported that today’s attack proves that IS fighters are still able to attack key operations and security forces. The group began to occupy the north of the country in 2014, defeating them in Iraq three years later.
