The Islamic State group claims the knife attack in London

The terrorist organization indicated through its propaganda body Amaq that it was behind the attack which left three people injured in the Streatham district.

The Islamic State group claimed, Monday, February 3, via its propaganda organ the knife attack which had occurred in London the day before, in the district of Streatham. According to a press release issued by Amaq, “the author (…) is a fighter of the Islamic State” and “he committed this attack in response to calls to attack nationals of coalition countries”. The terrorist organization, suspected of publishing “opportunistic” claims after certain attacks by isolated individuals, however, provides no evidence of a link with Sudesh Amman.

Sudesh Amman, 20 portrait a dummy explosive vest and stabbed and injured two people on Sunday afternoon in a shopping street in London’s Streatham, before being shot by police. A third person was slightly injured by a shard of glass caused by a police fire. British police quickly asserted that the knife attack was “terrorist” and “Islamist in nature”.

Meanwhile, the British government is expected to announce tougher measures on those convicted of terrorist crimes on Monday, as were the perpetrators of the knife attack on Sunday in London and that of London Bridge in late November. The bill notably revises a minimum of 14 years in prison for serious offenses and prohibits the early release of perpetrators of terrorist acts.
