The IOC has made a final decision on the admission of Russians to participate in the Olympics – 2024: a statement appeared –

The International Olympic Committee nevertheless decided to uphold the disqualification of both Russians and Belarusians.

The International Olympic Committee has decided not to remove the disqualification from the representatives of the aggressor states participating in the undeclared war against Ukraine – Russian and Belarusian athletes will not go to the 2024 Olympics. Relevant information appeared today IOC statement.

The document focused on the fact that sanctions were imposed on athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus precisely for the hostilities unleashed in Ukraine.

In addition, the IOC stated that they would continue to provide assistance to Ukrainian athletes who suffered from Russian aggression.

By the way, earlier the IOC leadership made ambiguous statements, according to which it was clear that it was not opposed to returning Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics. A protest was received from the Ukrainian side; it was supported by a number of other countries.

Apparently, the IOC began to fear that the admission of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to the Games could lead to the fact that this start of the four-year period would be boycotted by a huge number of civilized countries, and this would affect the event and the organizers both financially and image.

Earlier we wrote that the IOC leadership cannot decide on the criteria for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.

Dialog.UA also wrote about sending a collegial appeal on behalf of 30 states to the IOC with a request not to allow athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus to participate in the Olympics in Paris.
