The international tennis tournament Carrier’s Cup 2023 is taking place in Minsk | Society

The international tennis tournament Carrier’s Cup 2023 has started in Minsk. The mission of the competition will be to help the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Cardiology” in the purchase of simulators for training specialists.

Athletes, businessmen, diplomats and scientists took to the court, and among the participants there was even the famous cosmonaut Valery Tokarev, said the Belavia airline, which acted as a partner of the event.

Participants from more than 10 countries compete in the competition. Among them are Olympic champions and simply titled athletes, as well as amateurs: businessmen, diplomats and scientists. The idea is to meet on the court without suits and ties. The competition was supported by Olympic champion and former world number one in doubles Ekaterina Makarova.

Even astronauts play tennis, which is no coincidence: interest in the topic is created by the upcoming flight to the ISS of the first Belarusian cosmonaut. She became flight attendant-instructor of Belavia airline Marina Vasilevskaya. The launch of the Soyuz MS-25 spacecraft is scheduled for March 13, 2024.

“The idea of the tournament is close and clear: each of us can do something more. For example, not only to achieve success in work or business, but also to succeed in sports or contribute to a good cause and help doctors. And this is perfectly illustrated by the experience of our colleague Marina Vasilevskaya, who, having established herself as a flight attendant-instructor, is now pursuing another dream – to fly into space. In general, for us, all employees and passengers are stars,” Belavia notes.

During the tournament, an account is opened to help the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Cardiology”, where they conduct training, internships and advanced training for doctors. Donations will be used to purchase specialized simulators.
