The use of drones in the workplace has increased exponentially in recent years, allowing workers not to have to expose themselves to certain risks such as falls from heights, inhalation or contact with toxic substances. In addition, it can serve as a “preventive tool” facilitating compliance with some of the obligations established within the framework of the LPRL. However, its use can generate new risks. These risks must be identified and controlled to guarantee the safety and health of workers.

Legislation

In this document, structured in four blocks, first explains how the national and European legislation applicable to drone flight operations has evolved. The first block contains the classification of drones and the requirements that must be met for them to be placed on the market. Below, the uses in different sectors and activities are compiled, highlighting the preventive advantages obtained, as well as the main risks that may arise as a consequence of its use. In the third block, the agents involved in its use are identified from the point of view of safety and the aeronautical requirements of the drone operator. And finally, a comparison is made between the main regulatory requirements in matters of safety and health and in matters of aeronautical safety.
