Head for the 2020/2021 financial year for MDA Foot! While the disappointment is still logically present following the cessation of competitions by the French Football Federation (FFF) last week, the Rhone club is recovering immediately and is already planning next season. Third in the exciting group D of N2, just three points from the leader and therefore promoted to National Annecy, MDA Foot wishes to “keep the staff and the maximum number of players taking into account the dynamic set up,” confides President Jocelyn Fontanel to the Patriot.

“The objective does not change, he continues, to settle permanently in the top 5 and get closer to the first three places. The roadmap will be given soon to Cris, Antony Réveillère and Edouard Chabas for the N2 and to our General Manager Micka Mendez for R1 and the organization of the club. We are only in April, the season should have ended at the end of May and nobody knows yet when the next one will start. We have time ahead of us ” , assures the manager.

“Everyone will have to make an effort”

Faced with the health crisis which should therefore generate an economic crisis, Jocelyn Fontanel remains cautious about the renewal of its main sponsor, MDA. “I have no comments to make on the management of MDA chaired by Michel Vieira,” he said. “I have read in the press that he will still sponsor OL next season, so I hope also from MDA Foot. I will call him soon to discuss the subject, as with many of our historic partners who, I have no doubt will continue to help us. We imagine, however, losing a few, leaving will then follow a relative drop in our budget for next season. (…) There are savings to be made if we want to save as many jobs as possible, but that will inevitably involve a reduction in payroll and spending. Everyone will have to make efforts to continue the great adventure of the club and of amateur football in general, a major contributor to the success of French football. We have to hang on while waiting for better days. “

Finally, the Rhone president also spoke about the upcoming departure of a historic club leader, namely Dominique Giuly.

“It is a shame but his departure does not surprise me, he says. I have felt his annoyance for some time. What is just unfortunate is that he put me before the fait accompli without prior discussion. “But I respect his decision. It is clear, crisp and precise, without any ambiguity. Dumé was no longer recognizable in the new functioning of the club and the recruiting unit. As a field man, he could not be satisfied with the role of vice-president. He has been an important craftsman of the sporting development of the club during these last twenty years. I sincerely thank him and wish him good luck in his new project with La Duchère.
