The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH) thanked the islanders for the “massive response” to the call for donations in recent days and recalled that it is necessary to maintain this rhythm to maintain the stock of all groups.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has indicated that regular and constant donations are needed throughout the year to keep the reserves of the Canarian Transfusion Center balanced and not to compromise hospital activity at specific times of high demand.
To donate blood in the Canary Islands you must be between 18 and 65 years old, in good general health, weigh more than 50 kilos and, in the case of women, not be pregnant.
In addition, the ICHH has pointed out to the population that the requirements related to COVID-19 have been recently updated, which at this time are: not having cough or respiratory symptoms, not having been diagnosed or having been in contact with affected people due to COVID-19 and not having traveled outside of Spain in the last 14 days.

In order to facilitate access to the donation, next week extraction points will be enabled in the municipalities of San Bartolomé, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, San Miguel de Abona, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa María de Guía, Agüimes, Santa Brígida, Telde and Santa Lucía de Tirajana, in addition to the fixed points available throughout the Archipelago.

To donate blood in the Canary Islands, you must request an appointment by calling 012 (922 470 012/928 301 012), option 8, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the donation website. com.
