the health pass at the heart of concerns

The 22nd Reims Association Forum on September 11 and 12 is the unmissable event for local clubs. The covid had an impact on the workforce last year. How are the clubs doing and how will they manage the obligation of the health pass?

After the school year, the Reims associations are preparing for their return to school. The traditional association forums are essential for clubs and families. The one in Reims will take place on September 11 and 12 in several areas of the city.

Léo Lagrange Park, Albert 1er ice rink, Géo André stadium, Georges Hébert stadium and Champagne park. For this forum of associations, the municipality relocates the event to several districts of Reims. A choice which is not without raising some concerns. “We hope the forum attracts people. Our fear being that this year it has broken out on several sites and it will be difficult for one person to go around all the sites in the same afternoon ” specifies the president of the EFS Reims athletics club (EFSRA), Vincent Boudry.

Another difficulty at the start of the season is the obligation to present the health pass in all covered places (sports hall, team sport, etc.) and in the open air. A puzzle for the local associations which welcome or will soon find the licensees of their respective clubs.

Health pass in clubs

At the René Tys complex where the Reims wrestlers club, it is the municipal staff who check the health passes.

A different situation for the athletics club. The discipline, which has 14 employees and 1,100 licensees, is gradually getting organized to accommodate the different audiences. “Since the resumption of licenses, the secretary has checked the sanitary pass with the anti-covid verif pass application. She has a dedicated phone for that. We will give the license holders a name card so that they do not have to present the health pass each time ” explains EFSRA President Vincent Boudry.

A new situation to which associations are adapting as best they can. “We cannot ask if the health pass is the result of a complete vaccination path or a PCR test. There are smart people who show us that they’ve had the full vaccine path so we don’t have to ask them all the time. For others, we systematically ask for the health pass ” explains Vincent Boudry, president of the Reims athletics club (EFSRA).

12 years old and over affected by the pass

From September 30, children over 12 years old will also have to present their sanitary pass indoors and outdoors. An additional constraint for the clubs which will also have to manage the comings and goings of parents.

We have the obligation to control the health pass of the members but indirectly should we control that of the parents?

A question still pending at the beginning of September. For the clubs, if some families risk not registering their children this year, most of the others already have their health pass.

I have no particular echo of scandal but in mid-August two to three parents threatened to leave the club

At the wrestling club the season has not yet started and a period of adaptation will be necessary. “The young people, it’s not that they don’t want to, but I think they may not have picked up, They come to the theater and we ask them for the pass, that’s when we see that they are not vaccinated ” explains Francis Barocco, president of the Remois Wrestlers Club.

We have passed the info and instructions, there will be a time to adapt but it will be necessary to regularize.

Will the numbers be there?

After a chaotic past season for many of them, sports, cultural, solidarity and citizen associations are waiting to see if the public will come to register this year.

The Reims athletics club is ultimately not so badly off. “Last year we only lost 15 to 16% of licensees, that’s a lot but we’re doing better than other athletics clubs. The start of the season is off to a good start for the youngsters, it also picks up with the senior adults for running, fitness, health, etc.) ”. specifies Vincent Boudry, President of EFSRA

If it had about 150 members before the crisis, the wrestling club was much more heavily affected by the health crisis. “We were almost on the sidelines for the two seasons in a row,” explains Francis Barocco, president of the Reims wrestling club.

It’s hard to know at the start of the season if people have changed sports or if they will come back.

Volunteers are ready to welcome toddlers and adults. The little ones already seem eager to fight in view of the first registrations

Among wrestlers, even if they will be there, we will not wait for the associations forum to find new recruits. “These demonstrations bring us almost nothing. Here, word of mouth and the support team often motivate new members ” concludes the president.

The associative season which is restarting still has its share of surprises and associations are adapting to the situation as best they can.

The associations forum takes place on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Find out more on the city’s website here.
