Denis Monastyrsky decided to save money on stun guns for the police

The canceled tender provided for the purchase of more than a thousand shooting stun guns and about 42 thousand cartridges for them.

The Ministry of the Interior will not buy electroshockers for the police. The special tender was canceled, the head of the department Denis Monastyrsky said on Monday, September 6.

“After taking office, I canceled one of the tenders for about 170 million hryvnia for the purchase of stun guns and sent the bulk of these funds to the purchase of body cameras for police officers,” Monastyrsky said.

It is known that the canceled tender provided for the purchase of more than a thousand shooting stun guns and about 42 thousand cartridges for them. Now, instead of them, more than six thousand body cameras will be purchased.

In addition, they are going to buy electric vehicles for the patrol police, which, according to Monastyrsky, will be able to provide savings for the budget.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the cost of a police officer Mitsubishi Outlander and its operation for 400 thousand km costs 2.059 million hryvnia, and the electric car Hyundai Kona, although it is 80% more expensive, only 1.540 million hryvnia.

Recall that in April The Verkhovna Rada refused to expand the powers of the police on the use of stun guns.

Last year the head of the patrol police experienced the Taser X2 stun gun, which is used by security officials in more than 100 countries around the world.
