The head of Kmart in Arecibo cries after saying goodbye to her staff



Iris Monik Rivera, identified in social networks as the head of Kmart in Arecibo, said goodbye yesterday, Sunday, of what was her employment for more than 20 years before the closure of some of her stores on the island.

“We give the formal closure to the Kmart 7566. (I feel) a deep gratitude and many feelings found after 36 years of service, in my case 25 years, four and a half here in Arecibo,” said the employee through an intercom.

TransformCo, the new company that acquired the assets of Sears Holdings Corp. last February, announced at the end of 2019 a new closing round, which included Arecibo.

“I guarantee it has been the best experience in my life. We have verified the great family that we are and my heart stays here with you, with my clients and associates, ”Rivera added.

The closures announced include the Kmart de Fajardo, Juana Díaz, Plaza Río Hondo in Bayamón and Vega Alta, as well as the Sears de Fajardo, Plaza del Caribe in Ponce and Central in Guayama.

Prior to this announcement, the company had informed the final closure of the Sears de Santa Rosa Mall in Bayamón and Kmart de San Germán, Caguas, Guayama, Cayey, Aguadilla, Trujillo Alto, Yauco, Carolina and San Patricio Plaza in Guaynabo.

“We close a chapter in our lives, and close the doors to the public, but not before thanking all of you, my clients, associates, my management team. Believe me I feel very proud. I wish you much success in your new stage, ”added the woman.

The emotional message received the applause of the people who were present in the store.
