The doors of the Zentene Castle closed to the residents in 2009, when the school in it was liquidated. Two years later, it was bought at an auction by a Russian millionaire, with the condition that the palace would be restored in the next three years. Almost four times more time passed, but the castle doors did not open for the locals, the new owners, or the workers. Except for a local resident named Modris, who made sure that the castle was not completely demolished.
