The accident took place on the U1 line in the city center between Stephansplatz and Hallerstrasse stations. The German media state that there is a construction site in this part of the tunnel from which the tube entered the road profile. The portal of the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper wrote that, according to his information, the pipe ended up being pushed into the set after the impact.

The first reports spoke of at least two injured. Gradually, however, the balance increased to at least ten injured, including three hospitalized. A spokesman for the fire brigade said no one was in danger.
