Jey Mammon received this Wednesday in The Mammons, the cycle that leads through America TV, to the great Fernán Mirás. The actor remembered his principles in acting and was encouraged to interpret some of the songs from the film Tango Feroz that he starred in in 1993. However, the most striking thing was the anecdote of how the first play in which he acted was seen by the great actor Robert De Niro.
The actor said that, after finishing high school, he decided to study Fine Arts, and that he studied theater only as a hobby. His teacher at that time offered him a test for a play, in which he stayed. Robert De Niro had starred in that same play in the United States, and one of its directors, Lito Cruz, told him: “If you do it in Buenos Aires, I’ll go to the premiere.”
“De Niro came with Cristopher Walken, who is very tall,” said Mirás to the laughter of the entire studio. Jey wanted to know if the protagonist of Tango Feroz was able to speak with the actors after the premiere. He admitted that he spoke very little, but that they both congratulated him on the play. “I didn’t tell them anything, I was 18 years old,” he recalled.
The América TV host also asked him about how he came to play Tanguito in the remembered film. “There was a casting many years before, where I did everything as the ort ..”. The actor admitted that he did very badly in the first tests, but that then the film was delayed for several years.
Then, years later, the producers went to see Mirás at the theater, who was performing a play entitled “The nineties are ours,” and there they decided to cast him. “They were concerned that I had long hair,” he laughed. And he recalled the great success of the film in Argentine cinemas: “He beat Jurassic Park and Propuesta Indecente, it was incredible,” he said, laughing.
