The Greeks are exhausted, this is what is happening

A program to reduce VAT on food products is being prepared, Finance Minister Christos Staicouras told the Greek parliament. The opposition insists on regulating the prices of electricity and fuels, BNR reports.

Opposition parties in parliament are calling for immediate measures to improve the living standards of Greeks. The Socialists presented data on a drastic rise in the prices of basic necessities, which are “illogical” in terms of revenue in the country.

MEPs called on the government to immediately set an upper price limit on at least foodstuffs and react against speculative traders.

Despite fierce debates over fuel prices, ministers say the excise tax on petrol will not be reduced after the price of a liter of unleaded petrol has already exceeded 2 euros.

Revolt over high fuel prices in Greece

Greeks pay the most expensive electricity among European countries, and wages are at the “Balkan level”, the socialists said.

Opposition lawmakers are urging the government to take immediate action because most Greeks are exhausted and unable to afford even basic necessities.
