One week before the start of the 2020-2021 school year through the Learn at Home II program, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador defended the agreement established by the Ministry of Public Education with private television stations that will allow education to all students of Mexico under this modality, at least until next December.
During his morning conference, he highlighted the importance of the participation of media companies, including Imagen Televisión because otherwise, he acknowledged, with the channels of the Mexican State and the federal entities, it would not have been possible to achieve sufficient coverage and the same with the Internet, it does not reach the whole country.

“But currently we could not have national coverage for that reason of television as a medium. I am grateful that the owners of these media have accepted because it was not something imposed but it was a proposal that I made and they accepted, it was voluntary ”, he commented.
López Obrador also thanked for the collection with a low rate and the provision of the entire media infrastructure to reach homes in Mexico. An investment of 450 million pesos during the next four months, at a rate of 5 pesos per month per student.
“If things improve in the pandemic, face-to-face education begins, each company will put a full television channel at the service of this educational plan. Look at how things have changed, now it is the complete television dedicated to education ”, he commented.
The chief executive clarified that, in the case of the contents in each of the grades, they will be those that come in the textbooks, the subjects in general and taught by teachers.
“Regarding teachers, they are not television hosts, they could not do it because they have other occupations, besides giving classes is something specialized is not like being a president or being a journalist, it requires being a teacher”.
The SEP announced this Sunday the schedules and channels in which the basic education classes will be broadcast from this next Monday, August 24.
