They state that it should occupy an “important place in the efforts to make China a strong country and in the process of achieving national rejuvenation.” By 2027, a sustainable reduction in the total discharge of major pollutants and an improvement in the quality of the environment must be realized. By 2035, ecological production methods and means of production should be widely developed, carbon emissions should peak and begin their decline, and the country’s ecological environment should have fundamentally improved.

“By the middle of the present century, China’s ecological civilization should have improved comprehensively, green development and lifestyle should have taken full shape, and deep decarbonization should have been achieved in key areas.
