The biggest fraud case in the recent history of Bordeaux wines has ended with a serious anticlimax. Roger ‘God of Bordeaux’ Geens from Aarschot managed to scam people for years with his exclusive wines that were in reality diluted with cheap table wine or even dirty milk that could make people sick. In 2018 — two weeks before his referral to court — the man died. Now, five years later, no one is being prosecuted. The price tag of 14 years of research costs the Belgian state 1 million euros.
