Lipnická Street is a busy stop from Přerov to Lipník nad Bečvou and Hranice. Still, a lot of people dare to run over it. A year ago, it happened to a fatal group of four young people – while two boys managed to run over, two girls were no longer enough.
The blue Škoda Superb knocked them down in an unlit and not very clear place. The tragic accident happened around half past eight in the evening before the sign marking the beginning of the village, so the driver could go there in his 90s. The young pedestrians did not survive the collision with his car.
Police investigated the tragedy throughout the year, even reconstructing the sites of the clash. Now she decided that the driver had not committed any crime and postponed the case.
“In connection with the tragic traffic accident that happened on September 14 last year on Lipnická Street in Přerov, which resulted in fatal injuries to two girls, we conducted a proper investigation and after its completion we issued a resolution to postpone the case,” a police spokeswoman confirmed. Miluše Zajícová.
The families of both girls do not agree with such a decision, so they filed a complaint. “The file material was forwarded to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Přerov together with complaints filed against the resolution of the police authority by family members of the deceased girls,” Zajícová added. The complaint must therefore be decided by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Due to the fact that the road was often used by pedestrians, the authorities had the sign indicating the beginning of the village moved. Today, the place of the tragedy is already a part of Přerov and people in their fifties go there.
