Didier Deschamps rotated extensively on the final day of Group F against Tunisia. The result was quite disappointing as France lost 0-1 at the end of the match.
However, the defeat of Tunisia did not change France’s fate as group winners. The defeat was actually a valuable lesson for Dechamps.
Deschamps will certainly use his best formation against Poland. The spearhead will be occupied by Olivier Giroud who is supported by Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele.
Adrien Rabiot and Aurelien Tchouameni will be the catalysts in midfield. Raphael Varane will lead the line with Hugo Lloris back in goal.
Meanwhile, from the Polish field, their star goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will be the best choice. Furthermore, the Juventus goalkeeper looked fantastic in the group stage, even when he countered Lionel Messi’s penalty kick.
With a 4-4-2 formation, Poland will most likely rely on the duo of Robert Lewandowski and Arkadiusz Milik to score against France.
Lewandowski and Milik will be the real test for the French defense. It is also possible that Lloris will pick up the ball from goal if the French defense fails to kill Lewandowski.
The duel between France and Poland in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup will be played at Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, Qatar on Sunday (14/12). Kick-off for this match will be broadcast live at 10pm WIB.
