The first showroom with Hot Wheels models was opened in the Prague premises of the AutoPalace group, where you can find cars of various brands.
The AutoPalace car dealer group recently expanded its portfolio with the MG brand, which is celebrating success in the Czech Republic. However, it will soon offer other global brands, but in a rather unique way. The world premiere showroom of Hot Wheels models, a brand belonging to the global toy giant Mattel, was created in its premises in Prague’s Spořilov.
The company AutoPalace thus expands its offer and at the same time addresses a new, rather numerous, group of customers. According to research carried out by Mattel for AutoPalace, there are up to 400,000 active collectors in the automotive category in the Czech Republic, and up to 50,000 new collectors are added every year.
The new Hot Wheels showroom, located for the first time in a real automotive environment, is located in the premises of the Ford brand and, in addition to the current range of models, also received a presentation area with an installed track for test drives.
„Hot Wheels are certainly not just toys for children, as one might think. A significant group of customers consists of adult collectors or automotive fans of various ages. It was precisely for them that we lacked a place on the Czech market where they could discover and acquire new models for their collections. Until now, they were only dependent on toy stores, foreign e-commerce or various exchanges and auctions,” said Marek Somol, brand manager of the Hot Wheels brand for the Czech and Slovak markets.
„It took courage to open a showroom with English Hot Wheels, and we are glad to have found a partner who had it. Collecting English cars is the passion of so many collectors precisely because it is not such a simple matter – new models, moreover from different series and collections, are hundreds to thousands higher every year, and they are available depending on the region and distribution channel,” he added.
In the new showroom in Auto Palace Spořilov, however, enthusiasts should find the maximum of what is coming to Europe, including the Czech Republic. An interesting feature will be, for example, the exclusive sale of selected limited editions that will not be distributed elsewhere in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. For example, the new “Spettacolare” collection with Italian icons such as the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, Lamborghini Countach LPI 5000 QV, Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI and other models will appear in the store. But another exclusive collection will arrive in autumn.
„We are pleased that, thanks to this unique project of selling car models outside brick-and-mortar toy stores, we will welcome a new target group of customers to the AutoPalace stores. Collectors of popular “English cars” are a new and great opportunity for us, mainly because their interest is mostly directed towards the segment of super sports and otherwise cult cars,” says Jozef Becska, marketing manager of AutoPalace.
Let’s add that probably the most famous store with Hot Wheels car models, at least in Europe, is the HW Models store in Swindon, UK, which is sometimes also called Hot Wheels Heaven. In addition to Hot Wheels models, the store also offers other famous brands of small models.
At the same time, some Hot Wheels cars have acquired a value that is hard to believe over the years. We can recall, for example, a pink van with a pair of surfboards, known as the Beach Bomb, whose value was estimated at 150,000 dollars in 2016, i.e. almost 3.5 million crowns today. Since then, however, the value has continued to grow and today it can be significantly higher.
