American media reported that there are no details so far about the health condition of writer Salman Rushdie, who was stabbed today in New York State.
And the Associated Press reported that the suspect in the stabbing of writer Salman Rushdie has been arrested in New York state.
The writer, Salman Rushdie, was attacked on Friday while he was about to give a lecture in western New York, in the United States.
The US agency indicated that writer Salman Rushdie’s writings led to death threats from Iran in the 1980s.
The Associated Press quoted its correspondent as saying that a man stormed the stage at the Chutokoa Foundation and began punching or stabbing Rushdie while he was presenting.
Writer Salman Rushdie’s book “The Satanic Verses” has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it blasphemous.
A year later, the late Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, issued a fatwa, calling for Rushdie to be killed.
