The first “Elektrum” solar park in Lithuania – in the world has been opened

With the expansion of Elektrum’s operations outside Latvia, the first solar energy park in Lithuania has been put into operation.

The 3-hectare park is located in Klaipeda district and has a capacity of 1.5 MW (megawatts). This is Elektrum, as one of the leading solar panel traders in the Baltics, the first green energy production project in Lithuania. Thus, this is an important step in expanding the Latvenergo Group’s operations in neighboring countries and a significant addition to green energy production opportunities.

Solar electricity is being supplied by the first solar park developed by AS “Latvenergo” brand “Elektrum Lietuva” in Lithuania, which is located on the seaside of Klaipeda district.

It covers an area of 3 hectares and has an installed capacity of 1.5 MW. As the solar park is located only 13 kilometers from the coast, which is characterized by high intensity of sunlight, it is estimated that one kilowatt of the park will generate about 1,100 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year. This is the first project of its kind, but Elektrum Lietuva has other no less ambitious goals in the field of solar parks in the near future.

“We use the best in our operations – water and solar energy. Already being one of the leading providers of solar energy services in the Baltic States, we will further develop this service by expanding our position in neighboring countries. By commissioning the solar park, we are already proud of “For Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where the Elektrum solar park will soon be opened, this is an equally important step in the production of green energy, which is the cornerstone of the energy of the future,” says Uldis Mucinieks, Latvenergo AS. “commercial director.

Solar Park is the first local green energy production project in Lithuania. According to Martins Giga, CEO of Elektrum Lietuva: “By contributing to the diversification of the group’s production portfolio, we aim to make green electricity a common daily product in Lithuania, which will also contribute to the European Union’s efforts to combat climate change.”

The solar park is intended for electricity generation for users. These can be individuals and households, as well as companies or public institutions. Among the clients of “Elektrum Lietuva” solar park are the administrations of Aukštaitija National Park, Labanora Regional Park, as well as the Curonian Spit National Park, confirming the mutual synergy of nature and energy.

The solar energy park is equipped with the equipment of the Canadian company Canadian Solar, a world leader in the production of solar panels. Martins Giga talks about the choice of the location and technologies of the solar park: “We had the opportunity to choose the most cost-effective location of the solar park, and we installed it on the seaside, where the sun is the most. However, even with the choice of state-of-the-art modules, the final amount of electricity generated will largely depend on weather conditions. In addition, knowing that voltage converters, or so-called inverters, are the fastest-wearing part of the equipment, we provided it with a twenty-year warranty. This means that the park’s customers will be protected against possible additional costs. “
