Basketball first division women’s final play-offs
The title final in the first division for women is between Kangaroos Mechelen and Castors Braine. The Walloon Brabant team won the decisive belle of the semi-final against Namur Capitale. The finale (best of three) starts on Friday.
Kangaroos Mechelen had already qualified earlier and, just like in the quarter-finals (against Waregem), they did so with a perfect report. The Maneblussers won the regional derby of Phantoms Boom twice in a row. The second semi-final, Namur Capitale versus Castors Braine, needed a belle. Both teams won their home match and on Monday evening Castors Braine won with clear scores: 88-48.
The final (best of three) between Kangaroos Mechelen and Castors Braine starts on Friday April 19 in Braine. The second match will follow on Sunday April 21 in the Winketkaai in Mechelen. A possible third and decisive match will again be in Mechelen, probably on Tuesday, April 23.
Kangaroos Mechelen is going for a third consecutive title. It has also won the Belgian Cup in the past three years, the last time last month against… Castors Braine. The Walloon club became Belgian champion seven times in a row between 2014 and 2020 and also won the Belgian Cup five times in the same period.
