The Zurich cantonal police have moved into the new police and justice center and no longer need the Zurich barracks area.
Now the security fence around the temporary police prison (Propog) is being dismantled. This means that a large part of the barracks meadow is freely accessible again. The dismantling of the Propog is planned from the first quarter of 2023. The barracks meadow will then be fully accessible again, as the canton and city wrote in a joint statement on Monday, July 11, 2022.
The northern part of the barracks meadow and the inner courtyard of the armory are already open to the public and are maintained by the city. Now she is also taking over the management of the southern part. Interim uses are planned for the two buildings, police barracks and arsenal 4, until October 2026.
Organization and management is taken care of by the Dynamo space exchange of the city’s social services.
