Farmers and tractor drivers remained in the center of Athens for about a 24-hour period, before starting their partial withdrawal shortly after 11:00 on Wednesday morning (21/2).
After a grand rally that took place in the center of Athens demanding the satisfaction of their basic demands, which concern, among other things, the institution of rural tax-free oil and a ceiling of 7 cents/Kwh in the agricultural and livestock current, they began under the instructions of the Traffic to leave the Constitution.
The departure of the farmers is carried out based on the plan drawn up by EL.AS., while Traffic regulations is in force in Athens.
In particular, the regulations will be applied along the route that the tractors will follow: Panepistimiou-Pl. Omonia-Ag. Konstantinou-Pl. Karaiskaki-Achilleos-L. Athens-L. Kifissou.
“The government got the message”
“With the grand rally that took place on Tuesday at the Syntagma, with the warm support of the people of Athens and the almost 200 tractors, we have highlighted our problem and we are asking for the satisfaction of our demands”, emphasized Rizos Maroudaspresident of the Federation of Agricultural Associations of N. Larissa, speaking on “Sky” television, on Wednesday morning, shortly before the departure of the farmers from the Constitution.
“We are going back to the blocks to make our decisions there, with the colleagues who are on the road,” he underlined.
“The government has received the message that it must provide solutions to the farmers and then scrape the bottom of the barrel,” Mr. Maroudas pointed out, adding that “the struggle will continue and be long-term as our basic demands have not been met.”
