After passing the bar exam, he was entered as a lawyer on the list of Vorarlberg lawyers on October 1, 1977. The youth politician

At the beginning of the seventies, Alfons Simma reactivated the young ÖVP Bregenz together with Arnulf Summer. He became local chairman in 1971, a short time later district chairman and was elected regional chairman in 1972. Under his leadership, the Young ÖVP changed from a “leisure club” to a political youth organization that brought its own ideas into the political discussion and also knew how to defend its positions vehemently. Alfons Simma coined the term that the young ÖVP must be the “leaven in the party”. She also became an “uncomfortable” partner of the Federal Young ÖVP, and more than that.

A long-time companion of Alfons Simma, former President of the State Parliament and former Mayor of Bregenz, Dipl.-Vw. Siegfried Gasser recalls: “I had very close contact with Alfons Simma, both when I was in high school and at the University of Innsbruck. At that time he lived with his parents in the village in Bregenz and had kept in touch with me a lot. He was an attentive, active fellow who appreciated contact with all of his friends. His interactions with older politicians over the generations was not always pleasant, but very honest. Everyone who knew him better and thus valued him will keep him in honor. He was regional chairman of the young ÖVP and had built up a circle of friends in Bregenz. This generation, to which Harald Pfarrmaier also belongs, remained loyal to him until his death. “
