A number of interesting pieces have recently appeared in car auctions, but this 1974 Porsche 911 RSR is truly unique. Only 15 pieces were created, Emerson Fittipaldi and Pablo Escobar took turns behind the wheel, and even his body underwent several significant changes, yet he has only a few hundred kilometers on the tachometer. But let’s take his story gradually.
This car was designed and built especially for the 1974 International Race of Championship (IROC), in which the biggest stars of the racing world competed together. A total of 15 cars were created, of which 12 were racing and 3 spare. The star of Formula 1 racing, Emerson Fittipaldi, was behind the wheel of this particular piece. That’s why the car is often referred to as “The Fittipaldi Car”.

After the championship, the car was to be replaced by several owners, including John Tunstall and Roger Penske – a former car racer and businessman involved in car racing. The last race to be attended by “Fittipaldi’s Porsche” was the Dayton 24-hour endurance race in 1978. And then the car was to be moved to Colombia.
At the same time, none other than the famous drug lord Pablo Escobar became its new owner. His hobbies included racing, for which he used the famous car. He even had it fitted with a special body kit derived from the Porsche 935.
After the Escobar was shot in 1993, the Porsche 911 RSR was stored. In recent years, the rare car has returned to the United States, where it has undergone extensive renovations. During the renovation, the Porsche 935 body-kit was removed and the car was completely returned to the condition in which it participated in the IROC championship in 1974.

Its tachometer should be around 362 kilometers, which is an unexpectedly low number given the age of the car. Several certificates speak of the authenticity of the car and its exceptionally excellent condition, including documentation from the US Volkswagen dealership, documentation from Pensky and confirmation from John Tunstall. There is obviously no doubt about the authenticity of the car.
It will probably not surprise anyone that the price of this gem will definitely not be low. “These cars aren’t for sale very often, the latest being the Donohue Car and Revson Car, sold by Jerry Seinfeld for $ 2.31 million, ”Says an ad on the DuPont Registry, where the car is advertised by Atlantis Motor Group.
„Professionally refurbished, ready to race, or added to collections,“Adds advertisement. Abbreviation unique offer, which corresponds to the unique price of $ 2.2 million, or about 49 million crowns.
