Aromatherapist Galina Kolosova told which oils can help with the prevention of viral infections.

She noted that many types of oils have healing properties. Regarding the prevention of viral infections, Kolosova advised using all coniferous oils, as well as eucalyptus, citrus and tea trees.

“Tea tree oil also heals wounds. Lavender oil helps treat skin diseases, such as burns, has a relaxing effect and affects sleep. Lemon oil improves metabolism, affects blood vessels, the liver, and strengthens the immune system. Peppermint oil has a good antibacterial effect.” – Kolosova said on the radio Sputnik.

Concerning the use of aromatic oils, she advised adding about five to seven drops to the bath. At the same time, she warned against the use of aroma lamps, and also noted that when adding oil to the bath, it is necessary to use an emulsifier in the form of sour cream or heavy cream.

“But with the diffuser we absorb all the substances that are in the essential oil. We need to add about 5-7 drops per 17-20 square meters of space to the diffuser,” Kolosova emphasized.

She added that oils can also be used by applying to the skin. However, she urged them to be applied by adding them to the cream. Kolosova noted that such a mixture can be applied to the feet, chest, or biologically active points.

She also urged people to carefully select oils and give preference to products of proven brands. If you get a headache from oils, according to a specialist, this means that you have purchased low-quality goods. In addition, she recalled the importance of consulting with a specialist regarding the possibility of allergic reactions.

Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the use of vodka when creating a home antiseptic will not give any disinfecting effect.

The main freelance specialist in dermatovenerology and cosmetology at the Department of Health Nikolai Potekaev also spoke about the need to use antiseptics and frequent hand washing after visiting public places. He also noted that to moisturize the skin, which is dry due to the frequent use of antiseptics, standard tools are enough.

Corresponding Member of RAS Alexander Gorelov noted that only with the invention of a vaccine against coronavirus will the only effective method of prevention of COVID-19 appear. Infectious diseases doctor Ilya Akinfiev said that a healthy lifestyle, physical activity and adherence to sleep patterns will help strengthen immunity, which is important in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,154 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in Russia. The total number of infected in the Russian Federation amounted to 7497 people.
