The Escalation of Conflict in the Occupied West Bank: A Silent War Intensifies

The occupied West Bank has been experiencing a state of continuous escalation for more than two years, but it has deepened and intensified significantly since the outbreak of the war on Gaza on October 7.

Our correspondent in Ramallah says that the Israeli army has intensified its procedures and raids on Palestinian cities in the West Bank, which have become besieged and isolated from each other.

The Palestinians say that what is happening in the West Bank is a silent war, in light of the tent of war in the Gaza Strip and the preoccupation of the press and politicians with what is happening there.

This war is intensifying every day with dozens of arrests, as 28 Palestinians were recently arrested, bringing the number of those arrested by the Israeli army since the beginning of the war on Gaza to more than 2,400 Palestinians, according to what the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club reports. This is the largest arrest campaign launched by Israel in the West Bank in many years. .

The Israeli army killed 3 Palestinians in the northern West Bank last night and early Sunday, bringing the toll to about 185 Palestinians killed by the army in West Bank cities and camps since last October 7.

In parallel, extremist settlers are carrying out attacks on Palestinians who, wearing military clothing, attacked a school in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, a community whose residents live in caves. The settlers wreaked havoc there.

The residents of this community are regularly subjected to attacks by the Israeli army and settlers.

American and Israeli warnings

Israeli media reported in recent days that the West Bank was on the verge of a major explosion.

In the same context, American reports warned of the danger of a second conflict front igniting against Israel in the West Bank due to the increased frequency of raids and attacks by soldiers and settlers.

The New York Times said that the state of tension in the West Bank has increased sharply from what it was before the Hamas attack on the areas surrounding Gaza on October 7th.

She added that the series of settler attacks has not stopped, and this has become the prevailing scene in the West Bank since October 7.
