Health expert Max Posternak revealed the body’s reaction to the lack of food for a full 3 days, a topic that aroused interest, due to the spread of the “intermittent fasting” diet, which calls for not eating anything for long hours, and limiting meals in a short time.
What happens after you abstain from food for 3 days?
- After 6 to 10 hours of fasting, most of the remaining glucose still circulating in your bloodstream will be used as fuel.
- If you used to eat 3 meals a day or you regularly eat a high-carb diet, you will be feeling hungry and low in energy levels by 10 o’clock.
- This hunger pain will subside after a couple of hours and your body will naturally adjust to this new information (not eating).
- Between 12 to 16 hours of fasting, your body will continue to deplete its glycogen stores while also increasing its reliance on ketone bodies. You may feel a little cold now because your body is not digesting the food. It will improve digestion, cholesterol and reduce inflammation.
