For asteroids to have the isotope ratios the team discovered, the solar system had to be a very chaotic place. The violent phenomena had to be very frequent. – Planets like Earth were still being born back then. The results of the new research can help us better understand how the planets in our neighborhood were born, but also give us insight into other planets outside our solar system, explained co-author Maria Schönbächler.
